- Separate client development from your own software product.
- Explain subscription income and overseas customers clearly.
- Plan ownership of code and access to the company’s systems.
Are you selling code, access or both?
A development studio builds a product for someone else. A subscription business usually keeps the product and sells access to it. Some founders do both while the product finds its market. Put both revenue streams into the licensing conversation.
Describe what customers receive and who uses the software. A simple appointment tool and a platform handling financial transactions can raise very different approval questions. Incorporating a technology company does not settle the regulatory position of every feature you build.
Make the setup brief specific
The activity review in Dubai’s business setup stages should come before selecting the licence. Share a short product explanation, expected customer locations and your staffing plan.
- Will you develop custom software, license a product or resell another vendor’s tools?
- Will customers pay per project, monthly or through a marketplace?
- Where will developers work and who employs them?
- Does the product enter a regulated sector?
These questions also help you compare workspace and visa requirements without buying more capacity than you need at the start.
Who owns the code?
Check the agreements with founders, employees and outside developers. Payment for development should not be your only evidence of the company’s rights. Ask a suitable legal adviser to review ownership, permitted use and any third-party software obligations.
Keep repositories, domains, cloud services and payment accounts under appropriate company control. If the only administrator leaves, a working product can become difficult to maintain even though the company still exists.
Prepare an explanation for the bank
A short product demonstration can help explain the business, but it does not replace the bank’s document requirements. Describe where subscription receipts come from, which processors you use and which suppliers or contractors you pay. The bank makes its own onboarding decision.
Before asking for a formation quote, sketch the next twelve months. You might begin with two founders, a remote developer and no inventory. That is a more useful starting point than a generic “software company package”. Kompani Setup can compare relevant routes and separate the formation, workspace and immigration costs for that plan.
