- Describe courses and learning outcomes before choosing activities.
- Ask KHDA which educational permission fits the delivery model.
- Separate commercial licensing from course and certificate approvals.
What are you teaching and to whom?
An on-demand tutorial library, a live professional course and a programme preparing learners for an external certificate are different offers. Explain the subject, audience, schedule and intended outcome when seeking an activity review.
Also say where the business, trainers and learners are based. Selling access online should not become a shortcut around questions about educational regulation or specialist subject approvals.
Which permission should you check?
KHDA publishes a service for training institute educational permits and a separate service for short courses offered by non-training institutes. Ask which, if either, fits the specific operation you propose.
Its training institute guidance refers to course descriptions and relevant commercial approvals. Specialised subjects and external professional certificates can add further requirements. Confirm those with the responsible bodies before advertising the programme.
Prepare a course brief people can review
- Course title, subject and target learner.
- Delivery method, duration and assessment.
- Trainer background and any relevant qualifications.
- Certificate wording and the body issuing it.
- Platform, location and proposed start date.
Suppose a consultant plans to run a paid course for client teams. Providing business advice and selling a training programme should be discussed separately. A previous consulting engagement does not establish permission for the new educational offer.
Be precise about the certificate
A completion certificate issued by your business is different from a qualification awarded or recognised by another body. Do not advertise accreditation or official recognition unless the actual arrangement supports that claim.
Agree learner terms covering cancellations, access periods, recordings and the treatment of personal information. Check the rights to slides, videos and third-party materials before uploading them.
Compare the complete setup
Include the commercial licence, educational permissions where applicable, workspace and any instructor or employee requirements in the budget. Ask about ongoing renewals and approval of changes to courses, ownership or delivery.
Kompani Setup can help organise the company formation side and identify the approval questions to take to KHDA or the relevant specialist. Share your course brief early so the quote is based on the intended teaching business.
